League of the Lexicon Board Game

If you're searching for a present for a bookish friend, the new quiz game about words and language League of the Lexicon is worth a look.

With praise from various UK wordy folk like Stephen Fry (“a logophile’s dream”) and Susie Dent (“a fiendish delight for all word lovers”), not to mention including a question set by the online editor of Fine Books & Collections, League of the Lexicon from Two Brothers Games features 2,000 multiple choice questions in various categories and two levels of difficulty, all in a nice box.

Questions cover all sorts of word topics such as etymology, archaic words, grammar, origin stories, and definitions. Although it's certainly designed to be played as a Trivial Pursuit-type game with a six-sided die and various rules about trading cards, the quiz cards can also just be used for more relaxed casual mini Q and A sessions (which is indeed one of the variants suggested by the makers). It's also quite fun just going through the questions by yourself.
